About the Service
Family Support Services co-ordinates a range of programs for children and young people who are blind/vision impaired and who may have additional disabilities.
Programs are based on meeting individual needs, promoting social interaction, skill development and community inclusion.
The service offers individual and counselling support, particularly during periods of transition. The Family Support Services - Blind/Vision Impaired unit works with families, professionals and other agencies to provide information and support in key life areas such as social skills and transition.
Yearly reviews are held to assist parents and their child/young person to meet their changing needs and to offer assistance with transition, integration into community activities and programs, and/or support to access CanDo4Kids Services.

- Opportunities to be involved in CanDo4Kids - Townsend House activities
- Information regarding other relevant services/agencies
- Opportunities to network with other parents

- Gym Club (North and South)
- Movie Club (North and South)
- Computer Club
- School holiday program
- Parent groups
- Transition support
- Independent living skills program
- Access to all other CanDo4Kids - Townsend House Services
Referrals
Referrals can be made by professionals, parents, carers, agencies or other interested persons with permission of the parent/s.
