Early Childhood Specialists

Early Childhood Specialists at Can:Do 4Kids provides support to families whose child may have had an early diagnosis.  Early Childhood Specialists have a variety of backgrounds including early childhood education as well as specialist training in working with children with a sensory need.  They will work alongside families to support the child’s learning through setting foundations for future growth and development.

The areas of support may include

  • Understanding the diagnosis
  • Grief and loss
  • Attending specialist appointments with families
  • Monitoring general development
  • Discussing milestones with families
  • Providing specific strategies and information relating to the diagnosis
  • Referral to other support services if required
  • Transition support to child care, preschool and school

  • Working alongside parents/carers and key people in the child’s life
