DIY Activity - Sensory Balloons

How: with your child, fill up balloons using a funnel with different sensory mediums. Have the child choose some themselves! Add things with a scent to and an additional sense of smell (e.g. ground up coffee beans). We particularly like flour, rice, and water. Get creative! Even place a little pebble inside a balloon with flour to add another tactile aspect.

Why: Not only can this build hand strength and manipulation, but it is a great sensory based activity. It can help to keep your child’s hand’s ‘busy’. By using different mediums, this means that the sensory input is novel and won’t get old!

At Can:Do 4Kids we offer services through individual and group-based therapy for children from birth to young adulthood.
