Allison Watts

Senior Audiologist

Hi, I’m Allison. After graduating from Macquarie University with Post-Graduate Diploma in Audiology, I secured a graduate position with Australian Hearing Services (now Hearing Australia) back in Adelaide. Then in 2017, I was presented with the opportunity to create an alternative service at Can:Do Group as part of a multi-disciplinary team and joined as Senior Audiologist specialising in paediatrics.

Working at North Adelaide provided the opportunity to work with Cochlear Implant clients and collaboratively with the Post-Graduate Diploma in Audiology.

Inspired by the work our Listening and Spoken Language Specialists do working with families to teach their Deaf or hearing impaired child to develop spoken language, I am now retraining to become one.

I have always had a love of science and graduated from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Science. Working at Can:Do has enabled me to work collaboratively with speech pathologists, occupational therapists, orientation and mobility specialists, sound field systems, social workers, Teachers of the Deaf and Listening and Spoken Language Specialists. One of the best parts of my job is collaborating with other therapists to assist clients to achieve their goals.

Working with a broad range of allied health specialists has enriched my clinical practice immeasurably. I have had the opportunity to present at conferences, participate in radio interviews, involvement in educational audiology and guest lectures at the Flinders University Masters of Audiology Program.

My Dad has a Cochlear Implant and if you ever attend a ‘Discover Hearing Implants’ talk you may meet him talking about his experience.
