About the group

The program sessions are divided into two parts.

  1. The first hour of Talking Buddies provides children with a range of play activities that they can explore at their own pace. The activities promote social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language development. Children can engage in painting, construction, play-dough, cooking, reading, song and rhyme, imaginative play, puzzles, water play and other learning mediums.
  2. The second half of each session brings the children together in a small group for a shared story around the theme of the week. This shared reading experience incorporates songs and rhymes and encourages children to listen and attend in a small group setting.

The children then participate in more hands-on activities with their parents to bring the book to life. Each child is given a copy of the week’s book so that they can take the book home and share it with their caregivers, reading it repeatedly.
