Help us build a new outdoor therapy space

An outdoor therapy space that mimics the real world.

The Children’s Community Outdoor Sensory Play Area is more than a playground; it is a sensory space, a powerful therapy tool, and real-world simulation that will empower children and their families.

Outdoor play is a fundamental part of childhood. It supports cognitive development and social inclusion. And we know that children with disability—including those who are blind, low vision, deaf or hard of hearing—often experience barriers that limit their access to play and social inclusion.

The Children’s Community Outdoor Sensory Play Area addresses this need.

It will allow them to practice foundational skills in a space that mimics real-world environments, like playgrounds and pre-school, in a way that is safe, familiar and controlled.

Jalen Taking Steps
Jalen is an occupational therapy client of Can:Do 4Kids

Today, Jalen is learning to take one step at a time.

As he grows, the outdoor space will help Jalen develop his gross motor skills and build towards a future of independent mobility and social inclusivity.

The space will include:

  • Four therapy zones over 860 sqm.
  • Orientation and mobility facility incorporating road safety components.
  • Private outdoor therapy 'alcoves' for 1:1 sessions.
  • Specialist sensory space.
  • Safe and inclusive connection spaces.

The plans have been drawn up, we’ve consulted experts in the sector and with the support of the South Australian community we have an ambitious goal of commencing construction in the second half of 2025.

We are committed to financially backing the project with the support of generous partners, but there is a shortfall we need to make up. Your support will help ensure this project is made a reality.

Will you give generously this Tax Time to help us bring important foundational therapy to children at Can:Do 4Kids?
